Examples of Limericks

Limericks are humorous five-line poems. Lines 1, 2 and 5 usually have 8 syllables. Lines 3 and 4 usually have 5 syllables.

There was a young person named Bright,
Whose speed was much faster that light,
He set out one day,
In a quiet way,
And returned on the previous night.

On lobster and ham,
And pickles and jam,
And when he awoke he was dead.
