Postural defects affect health of a person. But these defects can be corrected with the help of proper exercises and through surgery.

What are the texture of music?

The texture of music consists of horizontal and vertical elements which come together to add depth or substance to a musical composition. The texture of musical work can be determined by how many or few instruments or voices are being heard or sounded at the same time.

The following are the texture of music:

Monophonic Texture
A melody performed alone is the simplest pattern of musical texture. This is called "monophonic texture". Whenever a single melodic voice is present alone, the texture is monophonic. Remember a melody performed by one or many musicians represents a single musical voice if the same notes are performed by everyone. One way to remember the term monophonic is to consider its parts.

"mono" + "phonic" = "monophonic"
"one" + "sound" = "one sound"

Monophonic Texture consists of a single melody alone.

Examples of Monophonic Texture:
  • children singing the melody of a song together without any instruments
  • a solo trumpet playing a fanfare
  • a family singing the melody of "Happy Birthday"
Homophonic Texture
When chordal harmony is present, "homophonic texture" is created. Often in homophonic texture, there is a melodic voice and other voice or group of voices which contain chords. Whenever there is a melody plus chords, the texture is homophonic texture.

One way to remember the term homophonic is to consider its parts

"homo" + "phonic" = "homophonic"
"same" + "sounds" = "same sounds"

Homophonic Texture consists of a melody with chordal accompaniment or chordal harmony alone.

Polyphonic Texture
One of the many ways harmony may be created is when two or more different melodies are performed at the same time in different musical voices. This type of harmony is called "polyphonic texture."

One way to remember the term polyphonic is to consider its parts.

"poly" + "phonic" = "polyphonic"
"many" + "sounds" = "many sounds"

Polyphonic Texture consists of several melodies performed together at the same time, resulting in harmony.

What are the two kinds of balance?

Balance is the equality of the forces of attraction. It may be achieved by the use of colors, spaces, forms and the interplay of light and dark values in painting:

There are two kinds of balance:

1. Formal or Symmetrical Balance - One side of the composition is made equal to or the exact duplicate of the other side. This method reflects a sense of dignity, poise, order, stability, security, or permanence.

2. Informal or Assymetrical Balance - Elements of both sides are made equal but different motifs are used. This type produces a sense of spontaneity, movement, dynamism, and excitement.

What are the different types of scale in music?

Scale is a succession of eight notes that go up and down the staff without repeating or skipping any note.

A scale is defined by its starting note and may be major or minor depending on its arrangement of tones and semitones.[5]

Here are the different types of scale:

Major and Minor Scale

Major Scale

A major scale is a set of notes that defines the key of a piece. Not only does the scale define the key of the piece, but the notes in the scale are not variable. In other words, a composer cannot make up anything he or she wants and call it a scale. Instead, all major scales sound very similar and are all based on the same scale.[1]

The major scale is the first of the diatonic scales. Another name for the major scale is the Ionian Mode. A major scale has 7 notes.[3]

Minor Scale

The minor scale sounded much "sadder". Like the major scale, the minor scale can be utilized by composers to create music.[1] The pattern of tones and semitones of minor scale is different.[2] It has more half steps than the major scale.[4]

Other types of Scale

Chromatic scale is made up of just half steps. It has twelve tones rather than the usual eight.[4] It is made up entirely of semitones. It includes all the notes on the keyboard and has no key because there is no fixed starting point.[5]

Whole-tone scale is made of whole tones. It has has just seven tones.[4]

What are the elements of Art?

Art is another form of expression. We can express our thoughts and feelings through the art works we made. In art, we use lines, shapes, textures, values, forms and space to create a work of art. These are called art elements.

Line is made of series of points and sometimes known as "a moving point". It is also an extension of a point. Lines can be horizontal, vertical, diagonal, straight, curved, thick or thin.

Shape is created when the ends of a line meet together. It is flat with two dimensions of length and width.

Texture is the feel of a surface through sight or through touching. It provides interest to artworks and excitement to the viewers.

Value is the lightness or darkness of color.

Form is just like shapes; it has length and width, but has depth.

Space is the area between, around, above, below, or within objects.

Different kind of Dance

Dance (from French danser, perhaps from Frankish) is a sport and art form that generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music,[1] used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting. --- From Wikipedia

Some of the different kind of dance are listed below:

BALLET. Ballet is a kind of dance based on formal steps. The movements are often graceful and flowing. Ballets are almost always danced to music, are performed for an audience, and often tell a story.

BALLROOM DANCING. Ballroom dance refers to a set of partner dances, which are enjoyed both socially and competitively around the globe. Its performance and entertainment aspects are also widely enjoyed on stage, in film, and on television.

While historically ballroom dance may refer to any form of formal social dancing as recreation, with the emergence of dancesport in modern times the term has become much narrower in scope, usually referring specifically to the International Standard and International Latin style dances (see dance categories below). In the United States, two additional variations—"American Smooth" and "American Rhythm"—have also been popularized and are commonly recognized as styles of "ballroom dance". --- From Wikipedia

MODERN DANCE. Modern dance differs from classical ballet. It is often less concerned with graceful, following movement and with stories. Modern dance steps are often not performed in traditional ballet. Dancers may put their bodies into awkward, angular positions and turn their backs on the audience.

FOLK DANCE. Folk dance is the term for a dance that is passed on from generation to generation and is part of the culture or way of life of people from a particular country or ethnic group.

HIP HOP DANCE. Hip-hop dance refers to social or choreographed dance styles primarily danced to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. This includes a wide range of styles notably breaking, locking, and popping which were developed in the 1970s by Black and Latino Americans. What separates hip-hop dance from other forms of dance is that it is often freestyle (improvizational) in nature and hip-hop dancers frequently engage in battles—formal or informal one-on-one dance competitions. Informal freestyle sessions and battles are usually performed in a cipher, a circular dance space that forms naturally once the dancing begins. These three elements—freestyling, battles, and ciphers—are key components of hip-hop dance. --- From Wikipedia
