Hog Breeds

Landrace - This breed is origanated in Iowa and very popular in the Philippines. It is pure white and with drooping ears and long a body. Its back is slightly arched. It is excellent in mothering and produces large litters.

Large White - This breed is originated in England. It is pure white, like the Landrace. Its body smooth and even. The face is slightly dished out and the ears are erect and inclined forward. This breed gives good quality meat.

Duroc Jersey - This breed has been developed in New York and New Jersey. Its color is red though some breeds are lighter and darker in shade. Its ears are medium-sized and set forward. This breed produces large litters.

Hampshire - This breed is originated in Hampshire England. All Hampshire breed show the white belt around the shoulders and front legs. This breed produces good quality meat.

Poland China - This breed which is originated in Ohio is a black hog with many white spots. This type of hog is a good feeder, matures early produces large amount of litters.
